Well - it's been just over 16 weeks... i'm gonna finally rejoin the office on wednesday - by which time i'll be a day short of 17 weeks since i had my accident..
i've seen the physio for 3 sessions up to now.. he seems pretty pleased... and he's moved me on to differnet physio for more advanced exercises... something about throwing a ball at me while i'm trying to balance on the wobble board!! i find it hard enough as it is :D:D and agility ladder exercises - god knows if i'll still be able to do that.
He sounded pretty positive - and i'm managing to do some really small calf raises on the bad leg on it's own now - but it's incredibly hard..
it'll be nice to get back to work and settle into the routine again :D

Day 92 - 18th January 2008
Woop - i'm signed off from the orthapaedic clinic and shall be starting physio next friday at clifton hospital in lytham!
the doc said i could start doing some exercise to strengthen my calf again, plenty of stretching. No twisting or pivotting sports for another 2/3 months tho. Very impressed with my progess and didn't think the physio would need to do a lot with me.
i'm getting there, finally - it's been 13 weeks. i can start driving again now, but need to build up the miles to get used to my commute distance again.
hopefully with physio i'll be able to get rid of the limp and start jogging / running again.. can't wait to get back on court again!

Day 71 28th December 2007
Hi all, a week after coming out of plaster - things are looking a lot cleaner.. all that horrible dead skin scrubbed off - scar is still a mess - think i underestimated how long it was going to take to heal. there was me sort of thinking i'd come out of plaster and be ready to hit physio. not a chance.. plus points of the week - i've ditched the crutch completely - feel totally comfortable pushing myself to walk a bit - but overdoing it makes my ankle swell hideously. the stretching / mobility exercises are going well - altho i feel like i'd hit a bit of a dead end now and can't get it to go any further without scaring myself so i'm just going to carry on as the doc said and see how is goes over the next three weeks. more pics next friday. Have a happy new year everybody.

Day 64 - 21st December 2007
Woop!
Finally out of plaster.. still looks a right mess... still cant put any weight through the ball of my foot.. i've got 4 weeks of regular stretching to try and get my achilles to a decent length and to let the scar heal up properly too.
my entire foot is yellow where the dead skin has built up - gross! nothing a bit of scrubbing won't get rid of.
I'll put a new pick on next week after xmas. Merry Xmas everybody. Have a good one.

Day 50 7th December 2007
Final plaster swap today - wound is looking possibly its most gruesome - with some pretty colors and scabbing coming out.. Doc is well impressed at how much i can get my toes up.
i'm pretty disgusted at the state of teh bottom of my foot - i've never seen so much dead skin come off.. huge chunks ... yuck...
Even better news tho - i can start putting some weight through it - i've got a giant shoe! and the cast is a more sensible purple today - none of these daft pastel colors of earlier weeks.. woop!
back in two weeks for the big day - final cast removal!!!

Day 36 - 23rd November 2007
well - two weeks after having stitches out here's how my scar is healing up - looking pretty gruesome still. it's all evened up a bit now.. doesn't look so creased up.
so - 4 weeks to go till the last cast comes off. for the next two weeks they've moved my foot to a neutral position - rather uncomfortable for all of today - but the doc says i'm doing great, and that the op went well - apparently their was plenty of tendon to join up.
i'm rid of the barbie pink plaster..
sadly it's been replaced with baby blue... groan.

Day 22 - 9th November 2007
sheesh... 2 weeks after the op... just over 3 weeks since my little accident and i've lost half my right leg (perhaps a slight exaggeration) - the left leg is beefed up from all the hopping..
Parking at preson royal was a nightmare.. ended up having to hop way to far..
booked in and was straight through to the plaster room, no sooner had i sat down than the technician shouted not to.
plaster off and straight into the treatment room - bit of a wait for the student nurse to come and torture me..
first by tearing the dressing off - equivalent to waxing the back of my leg..
then by taking my stitches out.. her mentor was a bit rough.. but once the student got the idea it was far better - no yanking the damn things out..
so stitches out and cleaned up a bit.. doc said it looked okay.. so back to the plaster tech for a new one...
after two red plasters a change of colour was required.. shame they only had pink.. definitely no pictures of that.
more pictures in two weeks.. back to my couch now..
